What the electrician checks

Understand the work before you agree.

01

Start with how you use electricity

The right circuits and protective devices depend on the building, existing wiring and your equipment. Age alone does not determine whether replacement is needed.

02

Agree the complete scope

Ask what will be replaced, what remains and whether existing cables or the supply need attention. Replacing the box requires a planned interruption to power.

For homes in the Netherlands

Plan the interruption and access

In Dutch homes, the consumer unit is called a groepenkast and is often in the meter cupboard. Tell us if the cupboard is shared, if essential equipment must stay powered, and which new appliances you plan to use.

Work on the network connection or sealed meter may involve your grid operator; describe the existing setup so responsibilities can be clarified.

Start with a few details

Describe the job in plain English.

Tell us what you see, where the work is and how we can reach you. You do not need to choose a technical solution before contacting us.

Send your request

A request is not a confirmed booking.

Prepare your request

These details are useful.

  • A photo of the closed fuse box if safe
  • Current and future appliances
  • Any equipment that cannot be unexpectedly switched off

In a rented home or apartment?

Tell your landlord or property manager about a fault and check who can approve changes to fixed wiring. Mention access to a shared meter room or parking area where relevant.

Find your town
Know what you are agreeing to

Ask for the full cost before work starts.

The price depends on the fault or installation, materials, labour and timing. Describe your situation so we can discuss the relevant charges before you confirm a visit.

How costs are discussed
01

Visit and diagnosis

Ask about a call-out charge and fault finding.

02

Labour, materials and VAT

Ask for the expected total, including applicable VAT.

03

Urgent or additional work

Check possible evening or weekend charges, and agree to extra work first.

04

For this particular job

Layout, protective devices, parts and any work to existing wiring affect the price. Confirm the outage, testing and handover in the proposal.

Questions

Questions about fuse box replacement.

You can call if your situation is different.

Must every old fuse box be replaced?

No. Its condition, protection and required capacity need to be assessed, not its age alone.

Do I need to know what caused the problem?

No. Tell us what stopped working, when it started and whether it affects a room or the entire property. Do not open the fuse box or try to repair exposed wiring yourself.

Is my online request a confirmed booking?

No. We contact you to discuss the job, expected timing, availability and costs. An appointment is confirmed only after you agree.

I rent my apartment. Who should I contact?

You can describe the problem to us, but also tell your landlord or property manager. For work in shared parts of a building, access and permission may need to be arranged.
