The RCD trips during rain or damp weather
Find out why the safety switch cuts the power.
An RCD (safety switch, called an aardlekschakelaar in Dutch) protects your installation. If it repeatedly switches off, the cause needs proper investigation.
- The affected circuits and appliances
- Possible moisture or outdoor equipment
- Whether the switch itself requires replacement
An enquiry is not a confirmed appointment. We discuss the work and costs first.

When might you need this service?
You do not need to diagnose the installation yourself.
It switches off repeatedly
No single appliance explains the fault
Fire, smoke or immediate danger? Leave the area and call 112. If neighbours have no power too, check the grid outage first.
Understand the work before you agree.
Do not bypass the safety switch
Repeated tripping can be linked to an appliance, moisture or a fault in the installation. Tell us when it happens and what loses power.
Replacement is not always the answer
A new RCD will not fix a fault elsewhere in the installation. The electrician first checks why the protection operates and then explains any repair or replacement.
Understand which part has failed
If neighbours have lost power too, check the network outage before arranging work inside your home. For a problem only at your address, note which rooms still have power and whether a breaker or safety switch has tripped. Avoid opening the fuse box.
The fuse box is often called a groepenkast and the safety switch an aardlekschakelaar.
Describe the job in plain English.
Tell us what you see, where the work is and how we can reach you. You do not need to choose a technical solution before contacting us.

In a rented home or apartment?
Tell your landlord or property manager about a fault and check who can approve changes to fixed wiring. Mention access to a shared meter room or parking area where relevant.
Find your townAsk for the full cost before work starts.
The price depends on the fault or installation, materials, labour and timing. Describe your situation so we can discuss the relevant charges before you confirm a visit.
How costs are discussedVisit and diagnosis
Ask about a call-out charge and fault finding.
Labour, materials and VAT
Ask for the expected total, including applicable VAT.
Urgent or additional work
Check possible evening or weekend charges, and agree to extra work first.
For this particular job
The diagnosis and the cause determine the price. Replacing the RCD is a separate job if inspection shows it is needed.
Send the job detailsQuestions about rcd keeps tripping.
You can call if your situation is different.
Is an RCD fault the same as a short circuit?
No. Both can interrupt power, but they describe different conditions. Tell us what you observe rather than guessing the diagnosis.
Do I need to know what caused the problem?
No. Tell us what stopped working, when it started and whether it affects a room or the entire property. Do not open the fuse box or try to repair exposed wiring yourself.
Is my online request a confirmed booking?
No. We contact you to discuss the job, expected timing, availability and costs. An appointment is confirmed only after you agree.
I rent my apartment. Who should I contact?
You can describe the problem to us, but also tell your landlord or property manager. For work in shared parts of a building, access and permission may need to be arranged.
What if the whole street has no power?
Check with neighbours. If multiple properties are affected, check the grid operator outage information or call the national fault line 0800-9009. For a fault inside your home, call us.
