Faults and urgent help

Find out why the electricity is off.

If your whole home or part of it has no power, describe what went off and when. We can discuss whether the problem appears to be inside your installation and what investigation would involve.

  • Which circuits have lost power
  • Whether the fault is inside the property
  • What repair or further investigation is needed

Describe what you see

When might you need this service?

You do not need to diagnose the installation yourself.

01

No power anywhere in the home

02

One room or floor has no power

03

Power goes off without a clear pattern

Fire, smoke or immediate danger? Leave the area and call 112. If neighbours have no power too, check the grid outage first.

What the electrician checks

Understand the work before you agree.

01

Check whether it is a wider outage

If neighbours also have no power, the fault may be on the public network. In the Netherlands, network faults can be reported to 0800-9009. If only your home is affected, tell us which parts still work.

02

A clear diagnosis before repair

A power failure has several possible causes. An electrician checks the installation and discusses the findings with you. Do not remove fuse box covers or work on wiring yourself.

For homes in the Netherlands

Understand which part has failed

If neighbours have lost power too, check the network outage before arranging work inside your home. For a problem only at your address, note which rooms still have power and whether a breaker or safety switch has tripped. Avoid opening the fuse box.

The fuse box is often called a groepenkast and the safety switch an aardlekschakelaar.

Start with a few details

Describe the job in plain English.

Tell us what you see, where the work is and how we can reach you. You do not need to choose a technical solution before contacting us.

Send your request

A request is not a confirmed booking.

Prepare your request

These details are useful.

  • Time the power went off
  • Which areas still work
  • Whether neighbours have the same problem

In a rented home or apartment?

Tell your landlord or property manager about a fault and check who can approve changes to fixed wiring. Mention access to a shared meter room or parking area where relevant.

Find your town
Know what you are agreeing to

Ask for the full cost before work starts.

The price depends on the fault or installation, materials, labour and timing. Describe your situation so we can discuss the relevant charges before you confirm a visit.

How costs are discussed
01

Visit and diagnosis

Ask about a call-out charge and fault finding.

02

Labour, materials and VAT

Ask for the expected total, including applicable VAT.

03

Urgent or additional work

Check possible evening or weekend charges, and agree to extra work first.

04

For this particular job

Diagnostic time and any repair are separate parts of the cost. Agree how investigation is charged and when your approval will be sought for further work.

Questions

Questions about power failure at home.

You can call if your situation is different.

Does a power cut always mean a short circuit?

No. Several faults can cause loss of power. An electrician needs to investigate before naming the cause.

Do I need to know what caused the problem?

No. Tell us what stopped working, when it started and whether it affects a room or the entire property. Do not open the fuse box or try to repair exposed wiring yourself.

Is my online request a confirmed booking?

No. We contact you to discuss the job, expected timing, availability and costs. An appointment is confirmed only after you agree.

I rent my apartment. Who should I contact?

You can describe the problem to us, but also tell your landlord or property manager. For work in shared parts of a building, access and permission may need to be arranged.

What if the whole street has no power?

Check with neighbours. If multiple properties are affected, check the grid operator outage information or call the national fault line 0800-9009. For a fault inside your home, call us.
