Sockets and lighting

Have a damaged socket checked safely.

A loose, discoloured or non-working socket may need more than a new cover. Tell us what you can see and which appliance was connected.

  • Socket and connection condition
  • Nearby wiring if affected
  • Whether repair or replacement is appropriate

Describe what you see

When might you need this service?

You do not need to diagnose the installation yourself.

01

A socket is loose or visibly damaged

02

There is heat, discolouration or a smell

03

An outlet has stopped working

What the electrician checks

Understand the work before you agree.

01

Stop using a suspect socket

Do not use a socket that is warm, discoloured, sparking or smells of burning. Do not open it yourself. In immediate danger, leave the area and call 112.

02

Check the connection behind it

An electrician can inspect the connection and the reason for the damage. Replacing only the faceplate may not address an underlying problem.

For homes in the Netherlands

Show where the point is needed

A photo of the location and any existing socket or light point can help. Mention the wall type, preferred position and whether the landlord or building manager must approve changes to the fixed wiring.

Clarify who supplies fittings and whether cutting or finishing the wall is included.

Start with a few details

Describe the job in plain English.

Tell us what you see, where the work is and how we can reach you. You do not need to choose a technical solution before contacting us.

Send your request

A request is not a confirmed booking.

Prepare your request

These details are useful.

  • What you noticed without touching it
  • Appliance that was connected

In a rented home or apartment?

Tell your landlord or property manager about a fault and check who can approve changes to fixed wiring. Mention access to a shared meter room or parking area where relevant.

Know what you are agreeing to

Ask for the full cost before work starts.

The price depends on the fault or installation, materials, labour and timing. Describe your situation so we can discuss the relevant charges before you confirm a visit.

How costs are discussed
01

Visit and diagnosis

Ask about a call-out charge and fault finding.

02

Labour, materials and VAT

Ask for the expected total, including applicable VAT.

03

Urgent or additional work

Check possible evening or weekend charges, and agree to extra work first.

04

For this particular job

Questions

Questions about socket repair.

You can call if your situation is different.

Can I keep using a discoloured socket?

Stop using it and have it checked. Discolouration can indicate heat damage.

Do I need to know what caused the problem?

No. Tell us what stopped working, when it started and whether it affects a room or the entire property. Do not open the fuse box or try to repair exposed wiring yourself.

Is my online request a confirmed booking?

No. We contact you to discuss the job, expected timing, availability and costs. An appointment is confirmed only after you agree.

I rent my apartment. Who should I contact?

You can describe the problem to us, but also tell your landlord or property manager. For work in shared parts of a building, access and permission may need to be arranged.
